Sarah Illustrates Hello DSA

interns No Comments

With the launch of hellodsa.com approaching – and with our fabulous illustration intern Sarah’s internship slowly coming to an end – we decided to have Sarah illustrate DSA.  After all, we are the craziest bunch of characters you could meet East of the Mississippi.

Sarah did an awesome job. We’re sure gonna miss her once she’s gone.

Check out the process here.

Coconut. Ice. Cream. Monkey. Head.

fun No Comments

Attention Dan Simrell Employees.  We are instituting a new rule.  For every week that the toilet paper roll is replentished I will put a dollar into coconut-ice-cream-monkey-head.  Thank you for choosing Dan Simrell Advertising…Home of the Whopper.

It’s a tradition that started only one year ago, but a tradition that will live on here at DSA.

On any given bright, sunny, warm afternoon, we, Dan Simrell Advertising employees, will pile into Dan’s Lex and head down to our favorite ice cream spot; Padula’s.  We generally gather round the charming little ice cream stand and deliberate on which ice cream combination to try that day.  Will it be cookies n’ cream? Party cake? The rice krispy treat sundae extrodinaire?? Or how about Dan’s favorite; the lime flavored italian water ice… (gross).

Due to our frequent visits to Padula’s (and Dan’s refusal to frequently pay for our ice cream addiction), we found the need to begin an “ice cream fund”. The ice cream fund originally started in a small and simple glass jar. Whenever we had extra change laying around, or found a dollar in our laundry, it would be added to the ice cream fund- in hopes that soon, we would have enough in the fund to make another trip to ice cream paradise.

Fast Forward: Where are you? You’re at Dan and Lainey’s honeymoon in Miami. Strolling around- when some man offers a monkey head- made out of an empty coconut. Your immediate reaction is: buy it.  And that’s just what Dan and Lainey did. And that my friend, is how coconut ice cream monkey head became our new ice cream fund jar.

In lieu of Jess’ birthday, we set out on our first ice cream adventure of the year and documented the entire journey.

DSA receives Judge’s Choice Award at 2009 Addys

awards No Comments

The time came and went.  The one night we (advertising agencies) put aside our petty differences and celebrate our noteworthy advertising feats together; the 2009 Addy Awards. This year, the Addy’s were held at the Green Ridge Club in Scranton and organized by Kristen Blake of Lavelle Murray and Jeremy Muyst of DFA. The theme (Addyopoly: a spin-off of Monopoly) was quite the hit.  The monopoly man (our very own Ed Finn) perused the event, distributing Addyopoly money with cane in hand.  By the end of the night,  the wonderfully designed centerpieces (personalized “addyopoly” boards) were grabbed by attendees as keepsakes of the night.

We are proud to announce that DSA received the 2009 Judge’s Choice Award for the Marywood University: Christina Success 30 second TV commercial.  3 gold awards were also awarded to Hello DSA’s:

1. Marywood University: Christina Success 30 second TV Commercial

2. Marywood University: Christina Success Original Music

3. Villa Joseph Marie High School Microsite

We are extremely honored and are looking forward to the 2010 Addy Awards. Congratulations to all the other agencies that participated in this year’s Addy Awards.

DSA intern, Sarah Christine Davis, takes gold at 2009 Addy’s

awards, interns No Comments

Our lovely intern, Sarah Christine, impressed all of us the night of the 2009 Addy Awards. This came as no surprise, due to the pure and simple fact that Sarah is a remarkably talented illustrator. Her designs are rather hip with a side of trendy and splash of down-to-earth goodness.  She never ceases to amaze us, as she is constantly leaving us with our mouths wide open.

A senior at Marywood University, Sarah is currently concentrating in both Illustration and Graphic Design.

At the Addy Awards, Sarah won Student Best of Show for her “Hair Throughout the Ages” self promotional postcard series. We are proud of her many accomplishments and wish her the best in her future endeavors. Way to go Sarah!
